Practice makes perfect – IT Technician and Hotel Management Technician at vocational training abroad – 2nd mobility
Yet again students from School Complex no. 3 in Krasnik, Poland took part in vocational training in Greece. This time it was a group of 16 students from the profession of IT technician and 16 students from the profession of Hotel Management technician. They spent 12 days in sunny Greece and were accompanied by two school teachers.
The main aim of their stay was realization of vocational training, during which students had a chance to become familiar with the reality of work in actual enterprise. Nevertheless, work in not everything. Students had also a chance to take advantage of a wide cultural program, which enabled them to get to know Greece, including its traditions, history, culture and cuisine. Places visited by the group include monasteries complex of Meteora, Skiathos island – where famous Mamma Mia was directed, Paleos Panteleiomonas, castle in Platamonas village and the town itself, Enipeas ravine and Litochoro village.
Vocational training itself was implemented with the highest standards. Students studying in the profession of IT technician developed their skills concerning diagnostic work and IT equipment service. After the training they know how to create and install software and administer computer networks. They also became familiar with various programming languages and methods of creating CCTV monitoring. A huge added value was constituted by the opportunity to compare functioning of IT companies in different EU countries. What is worth mentioning, is the fact that suitable adjustment of students’ duties enabled them to develop skills connected with working in a team, organizing own workplace and working under pressure.
Hotel Management technicians were conducting activities concerning everyday guests service and taking care of efficient functioning of the hotel. They developed skills connected with work in hotel reception, including check in and check out procedures, the use of reservation system and communication with other hotel departments. They also became familiar with the regulations concerning customer service in hotel restaurant and the functioning of room-service and floor management.
All of the students developed also positive attitudes, such as openness towards new challenges or the urge of self-improvement. Significant value was also constituted by acquiring professional experience and improving language skills in English, which is truly welcomed at modern labor market.
In order to provide proper validation of achieved by the students learning outcomes various certificates and tools were implemented. They include:
– certificate confirming participation in preparatory workshops prior to the mobility (language, cultural and pedagogical training)
– certificate confirming participation in vocational training
– Europass Mobility document stating acquired skills and competences.
The initiative is financed within “Transnational mobility of students and graduates, and the vocational training staff” project realized from PO WER funds under the framework of Erasmus+ program, Vocational education and trainings section. The budget is equal 112 332, 00 euro.
